Honda

Overview

The Honda Motor Company needs no introduction. As a leading manufacture of vehicles and power products, Honda delivers over 30 million units in 2019 alone. Navigating the digital era requires a digital mindset, and Honda turned to Digitalist to help them deliver an in-car experience as part of their ongoing technological transformation.

Challenge

In-Vehicle Infotainment technologies, or IVI, are designed to deliver information, entertainment, and utilities to monitor car performance and encourage economical driving. Opportunities for connecting a car with a smartphone or a tablet are increasingly important for brand differentiation.

Honda wanted to deliver connectivity and convenience on the road for an enhanced driving experience. Accomplishing this required multiple systems integration and seamless, robust delivery.

Customization was key, as were safety and brand guidelines. Content needed to be delivered across 24 languages in the European market.

Outcome

The Honda App Store was announced at Mondial de l’Automobile (Paris Auto Show) in October 2014 and added as a standard feature on all new Honda vehicles sold across Europe starting in 2015.

Digitalist delivered a solution that ensures Honda owners get certified in-car applications and up-to-date content throughout the lifecycle of their vehicle. This provides an enhanced driving experience for users. It also opens up new digital business opportunities and revenue streams for Honda.
